Never disable services via msconfig. You can really screw up your system because it will allow you to disable critical services. It is much safer to disable services through services.msc because it takes care of dependencies and will not let you disable critical services.
So basically: turn off all effects, run msconfig and adjust services via services.msc. Also: nLite and possibly XPlite. Alternatively: Ubuntu Linux or get yourself a Mac.
Make Windows faster learning to disable services and startup items you don't need and enhance system performance.

It's another useful tweaking software made by microsoft. Open it in C:\windows\system32\tweakui.exe(more)(less)
Nice! Great tutorial, but I agree use services.msc instead to disable services.
