I promise you (unless you're a messenger/cab driver and care to dispute) that most able taxi drivers/bike messengers exist as harmoniously as traffic can. I constantly make room for taxi's and give them, more than any other vehcile, respect. Those guys are out working the streets day in day out like bike messengers. Both have to deal with the true idiots of the road - clueless, inept commuters (be they on bikes or in cars) weaving across lanes slowly and negligently. And if a messenger did get hit they'd probably be back on their bike in seconds as you see in the video (when that old woman hits the messenger. He's back on his bike in seconds and says something like 'it's ok, don't worry about it'). Experienced messengers know the reality/danger of fast moving traffic and don't hold others accountable. I wish people would stop with this 'us versus them', 'cars versus bikes' crap. Traffic is traffic. Either you move with skill and trust your intuition or you get hurt.

Reply to #33:  Ironically I've seen the same video with the title 'How -Not- to Bike in NYC'. Hopefully noone's using this video as an example of how to bike, these are messengers who spend a minimum of 45-50 hrs/wk navigating those streets and honing their skills. Ok so it dangerous and not the best idea, but so is the majority of decisions most humans/americans make. The disrespect goes both ways, but it happens more on the motorists and pedestrian side than it does on the cyclists. There are more of them then cyclists. Does that make it right? probably not, but these types of races aren't happening ever five minutes. People get a huge kick out of dare devil shows, gross ingesting of bugs and other strange shit, police chases, and a ton of other ill fated occurrences, but some how this is so upsetting to people that they need to reference death, injury and hatred. What is fucked up is cyclists just ask for people to pay attention and those people want to see cyclists eradicated. Who is more fucked up now? I much rather see fat, lazy, ignorant, stupid people die. It just so happens most of them drive cars.

Alright, these guys got balls. And skill. Mad skill. Unfortunately, what they also have in mad quantities is disrespect for their fellow man. They show the exact same attitude to pedestrians that many motorists have towards cyclists, namely, I'm not the one whose gonna get hurt when I hit the other. Fucking lame. It's folks like this who TRULY and ABSOLUTELY jeopardize the rest of us cyclists who try to live and breathe cycling and want to continue to live and breathe cycling along side our motorist brethren. And I'm sure these guys will all whine when a car hits them, and on the next day complain about the pedestrian crossing the street who's just minding their own business. Fucking lame, or did I already say that. And for the jackasses in the film and all the other cyclists out there who think this is cool; please read comment number 9. There are a hell of a lot more people out there who drive 3000lb hunks of metal and glass who HATE cyclists for stuff like this (I don't blame them) and they frankly don't see the difference between these dummies and the rest of us. Remember how cool these guys are when some motorist runs a stop sign in your neighborhood and flattens your 7-year-old daughter whose riding her bike to school. It's the same shit - disrespect.
