Reply to #14:  Yup, I thought that.

  • #16  visitor15 ~ Nov 12, 2007

Really great collection of classic and some new (to me at least).

You can actually make the mobius strip, Just take a strip of paper, twist, tape the ends.

  • #14  visitor13 ~ Nov 10, 2007

Too many things mushed up together and the mobius strip demonstration is flawed. The strip only flips on itself once, which should make the little sphere go around twice (once on eache side).

I could still see the union jack at the end

still someone ought to identify the music in the clip...

The other thing is that the old trope about \"only needing the first and last letters to be correct\" is wrong. We read letter-by-letter, but the brain is fast enough to make up for these mistakes, as the context given allows for very narrow search parameters. Try it with long words and you'll have just as much trouble as you would with any other anagram.

mobius strips are real, but the one pictured in this video is not not... watch the way the dot moves

  • #7  visitor6 ~ Nov 09, 2007

A little too quick to properly demonstrate some of the effects, and yes, the moebius strip definitely does not belong in the impossible object section. It is a very real object that defies sense, being a strip of paper with only one side and only one egde. Take a strip of paper, half twist, and stick the edges together, and then try to trace a line along \"one\" side.

Whats that piece of music playing?

  • #5  daniel ~ Nov 09, 2007

yep, i think the moebius strip is real. at least that's what my Vectorial Analisys teacher said :D

  • #4  visitor4 ~ Nov 09, 2007

wait... isn't the moebius strip real? take a strip of paper, give it a half twist, and tape it together?

  • #3  visitor3 ~ Nov 09, 2007

Whoa, great video! I must say I've seen most of these illusions before and know how they work, but the music and explenation along plays so very well together!

Great work and a 10 out of 10 frem me! ;)

  • #2  visitor2 ~ Nov 09, 2007

Very cool, but you can create a moebius strip in reality...awesome video nonetheless, very clean presentation of the classic optical illusions we all know and love.

    cool
